At this rate, it won't make it 2. Hoping a tech can come by soon.I was planning on this tv lasting 10yrs. Samsung says they should be able to extend the warrenty for 1 month to get it repaired.
Not so hot for non-HD signals - my 15 yr old sony crt looks better. I've had it 1yr and 2wks. Impressive picture quality in HD.
When you turn it on, the screen flashes for a moment and goes black. and i doubt my next tv will be a samsung. Also, it's slow to switch between signal inputs.Minor gripes, I'd still probably give it 4 stars, except for the quality issues below.First we had the same buzzing power supply that everyone else had.
Now, it has completely died.
This has not been an issue thus far, as all HD programming we get is 720p, but there will be a BluRay player in its future, which does 1080p and it would be nice to know we're getting the highest res picture there is.but again, this matters less on a smaller TV like this. For the 8 feet average distance from our couch to the set, I think a 42 inch would be perfect, so I've started poking around at the latest Sharp Aquos 42", and for not much more than the $900 or so we paid for this, you get a 10 inch bigger screen, 1080p, twice as fast response time and slightly better contrast ratio in a fairly compact package. "Zoom 1" should back off just a little.it cuts off a little more than it needs to to optimize a wide-screen standard def picture. "Zoom 2" is completely useless.BTW, as far as I can tell this set does not do 1080i, just 720p. We've had this set for about a year and a half now and we really enjoy it. This would bump the Sharp into a smaller room in the house which would work better for a 32". However, she was pleasantly surprised at how nice this "piano black" Samsung looked there and we both just love watching TV on it, expecially in HD. My only real regret is not getting a bigger screen, but my wife didn't want a set too large for our smallish living room. Even the remote looks and feels stylish. My one criticism is with the 2 zoom modes.
One button switches from one to the other easily. Thank you Samsung, for making this too easy. Hey, I've read many reviews. I've had this unit over a year. Friends who have similiar products by other manufacturers, have had difficulties I have never had. I've had no problems with my PC, VCR, DVD, RECEIVER, etc. There are connections for everything, all at the same time.
The web sight by Samsung offers extended codes for unique devices to program your remote. What else can you ask for.
I use it with all my devices. The HD is great, and receiver is compatable with cable, satellite, and Analog antenna.
Let's not over-complicate things. Picture in picture is good to; preventing missing game moments.
What a great purchase. It's wonderfull.
I've learned to connect them all, to use as I please.
Just a all around great tv. my buddy has a 52' version of this tv and it is the same way. I have had this tv for about 6 month's and I have to say it is a great tv. I LOVE IT.
I got a great deal on it, the picture is great , and I don't regret it. I bought this TV even with all the warnings about the high pitched sounds and I'm glad I did.
